Cory’s Story
In a world where challenges sometimes feel like they outweigh the triumphs, we meet people like Cory. A remarkable young man who is overcoming challenges to live independently and not define himself by his intellectual disability. Connecting with one of our support workers (John) proved to be a positive turning point for Cory. With patience and empathy, he and John embarked on a journey to rebuild Cory’s confidence to equip him with the skills needed for independent living and community access. What blossomed were new experiences, social connections, and overcoming barriers to regain his independence and confidence.
Cory’s story sits at the very heart of our purpose here at Independence Australia, providing choices for people with a disability or other personal needs, enabling them to regain and retain their independence within an inclusive community.

This year marked the launch of our 2024-2028 Strategic Plan. Whilst our core purpose remains at the heart of why we do what we do, we are expanding our services to support more people with complex disabilities, continue to provide essential healthcare products, mobility aids and equipment for people to live independently, and build a sustainable and effective workforce in the NDIS environment.
